Peter Chinni enjoys a distinguished career that began in the 1950’s and spans two continents. Born to Calabrian immigrant parents in 1928, Chinni studied at the Art Students League in New York and attended the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. Beginning with painting and printmaking, the many years to follow dominate with sculptural works in bronze, marble, and fabricated metals. In addition to numerous private collections, Chinni has important pieces in the Beeckestijn Museum in Holland, the Hirshhorn Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Nelson A. Rockefeller Collection, and the Harwood Museum of Art.
